Mesnil-Saint-Nicaise

Mesnil -Saint- Nicaise is a commune with 569 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. It belongs to the canton of Nesle and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays Neslois. The inhabitants are referred to as les Mesnilois.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the D35 road department ( district of Mesnil -Saint- Nicaise -le- Petit ) and D15 (hamlet of Mesnil -Saint- Nicaise -le- Grand), each approximately 2.5 km north of Nesle.

History

In Mesnil -Saint- Nicaise a Gallo- Roman temple with ( Fanum ) was discovered in 2009.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
