The Messelberg is a 748.8 m above sea level. NHN high mountains of the Swabian Alb east of Donzdorf. Characterizes Its distinctive shape and dominates the surroundings.

Messel stone

At the highest point of the mountain Messel a walk easily accessible cliff jumps in a northwesterly direction out of the steep wooded slope, the Messel stone. From its prominent location one can look to the Black Forest, 130 km away on a clear day. Here is a small castle and a prehistoric reference, which was interpreted as a place of worship.

About the Messelberg leads the Swabian Alb - northern edge path.

Airfield

On the plateau of the Messel mountain, 1.7 km southeast of the Messel stone, lies the airfield Donzdorf. It is operated by the Fliegergruppe Donzdorf. To the west, right on the escarpment, is a launch site for hang gliding and paragliding.
