Messier 65

Messier 65 (also known as NGC 3623 ) is a 9.2 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb with a surface area of 8.7 '× 2.5 ' in the constellation Leo. Together with Messier 66 and NGC 3628 makes this galaxy the Leo triplet, the nucleus of the M66 galaxy group, which in about 30 million light- years (9 Mpc ) distance is. Messier 65 was discovered on March 1, 1780 by the French astronomer Pierre Méchain.

The galaxy is already to be seen in a bright binoculars.
