Mestis

Mestis is the second highest Finnish ice hockey league. It was founded in 2000 and replaced the first division. At the same time, she became the highest league, which could be achieved through pure playful performance because the SM- liiga "closed" was what is called in hockey language, that there is no promotion and relegation more. This does not mean that no more new teams will be added. The crews of the Mestis must first achieve particular standards to be put in the SM- liiga. Only in the league in 2009/10 it was opened again. The 14th of the SM - lliga playing in a best-of -7 series against the champion of the Mestis to fate and rise in the SM- liiga.
