Metallophyte

Metallophytes are plants that are able to store large amounts of certain heavy metals. As a heavy metal hand they have a special significance, as it (eg mining dumps ) identify locations with a high heavy metal pollution. Metallophytes often tolerate such levels of heavy metals such as lead, zinc or cadmium, which act long -toxic to other plants.

Examples thereof include metallophytes Thlaspi goesingense ( Gösinger Tasch herb): Pb, Zn, Cd; Arabidopsis halleri ( Haller cal Tasch herb): Cd, Zn; or Galmeiveilchen and Silene.
