Meteor (rocket)

Meteor is the name of a group of Polish sounding rockets to study the upper atmosphere, which were built 1963-1974.

Versions

There were a total of 4 types of Meteor, namely the Meteor 1, Meteor 2H, 2K and Meteor Meteor 3

  • The Meteor 1 was a single-stage missile with a maximum altitude of 40 kilometers, a takeoff thrust of 14 kN, a diameter of 12 centimeters and a length of 2.5 meters.
  • The Meteor 2H was a single-stage missile with a maximum altitude of 68 kilometers, a takeoff thrust of 24 kN, a diameter of 35 centimeters and a length of 4.5 meters.
  • The Meteor 2K was a two-stage missile with a maximum altitude of 90 kilometers, a takeoff thrust of 52 kN, a diameter of 35 centimeters and a length of 4.3 meters. It was the largest Polish-developed civilian rocket.
  • Meteor 3 was a two-stage rocket, which was composed of two 1 Meteor missiles. She had a takeoff thrust of 14 kN, a diameter of 12 centimeters, a length of 4.3 meters and a maximum altitude of 65 kilometers.

Use

Were launched the Meteor missile on the countries along the Baltic Sea coast military training areas and Leba Ustka, five copies of the Meteor 1 were started at the beginning of the 1970s of the peninsula Zingst.
