Meteorologische Zeitschrift

The Meteorological magazine, short MZ, is a scientific journal (Journal ) for Meteorology and Climatology.

The MZ was founded in 1866 by the Austrian Society for Meteorology. Starting in 1886, the publication was held jointly with the German Meteorological Society. After a start-up by the meteorological societies of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, came in 1992 in a merger of the magazines Meteorological Observations and Journal of Meteorology. Since January 2000, the contributions to the physics of the atmosphere ( cited as: Contributions to Atmospheric Physics ) published in the Meteorological Magazine.

Although the journal is edited by the meteorological societies of mainly German-speaking countries, the article - probably to cater for scientific reasons and to meet the needs of the necessary international cooperation - basically written in English.

The impact factor of the journal Meteorological was in 2012 at 1,084. This took the magazine in the statistics of the Science Citation Index ranked 56th of 74 journals considered in the category " Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences".
