Metrology
Metrology is the science of measurements and measurement systems. In the 3rd edition of the VIM 2007 Metrology is defined as " the science of measurement and its application ".
The word derives etymologically from meter ( gr μετρώ metró "measure" ), and is not to be confused with meteorology ( Meteor ), meteorology.
