Metsatöll

Metsatöll is an Estonian folk metal band. The term " Metsatöll " is an ancient Estonian euphemism for wolf, which can still be found in the rough lyrics. A large part of the traditionally -inspired treasure of songs the band is about the independence wars of the 13th and 14th centuries.

History

Metsatöll was founded in 1998 as a trio, playing epic heavy metal with influences of ancient Estonian folklore. In the same year the band released their debut Terast mis hangund me executed (German: " Frozen steel in our souls "). In 2000 came Varulven the band, who had already seen their musical activities extended periods of time and occasionally starred in live performance. Varulven also came up with the idea to mix heavy metal with old Estonian folk. Since then Metsatöll integrate old - Estonian runic songs and traditional tunes in their music.

2001 bass player left the band Tins, in order to devote more intense his private life. A little later was found with Piirsalu a new bass player. A year later published Metsatöll the single Hundi Loomine and this took a video. Hundi Loomine received numerous positive reviews in the local media. In early 2004 the drummer factor could be replaced by Atso, and the band released the end of their second album Hiiekoda, which was also positively received by the media and the fans.

On November 1, 2011, the new album Ulg appeared.

On 1 October 2012, a DVD / CD was released with the name Tuska via Spinefarm Records.
