Mexican League

The Liga Mexicana de Béisbol ( Engl. Mexican Baseball League ) is the highest professional baseball league in Mexico. It is next to the International League and the Pacific Coast League from the USA is one of three leagues in North America, which are classified as triple-A, so it has the highest classification of Major League Baseball. The LMB is an independent league, no team is owned by a MLB team, but some teams have employment contracts concluded with the MLB players.

In addition, it is the most highly classified baseball league outside of the United States. In contrast to the Liga Mexicana del Pacífico, which is played in the winter, it takes place in the summer months mainly. Giants of the LMB are the Diablos Rojos del México with 15 titles (most recently 2008).

League structure and game system

The discharged since 1925 League consists of two zones (division ), a northern and a southern zone of eight teams. Each team will play in the two halves separately evaluated Season 53 games in the first and 54 in the second half of the season in the lasting from March to July in regular time. History

1925, the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol (LMB ) was founded as the first professional league in Mexico. The six founding clubs came from the region around Mexico City, Guanajuato and Veracruz: 74 Regimiento, Club México, Agraria de México, Nacional de México, Guanajuato Club and Rojos del Águila de Veracruz

1937, established this league with 15 teams across the boundaries of Central Mexico addition, including the Monterrey Industriales, the Nuevo Laredo Tecolotes and the Torreón Algodoneros.

1955 was the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol (LMB ) shortly before the death, was then but saved yet under new league management, which among other things to establish cooperation with the then purely American professional league, Major League Baseball (MLB), agreed.

In 1973, the Mexican League ( LMD), with 16 teams in four divisions: North East; Northwest; Southeast and southwest, divided. 1979 even increased to 20 teams.

Since 1981, the LMB is playing with 16 teams since 1983 and again in a north and south division. The most successful team are the Diablos Rojos del México DF from ( Mexico City), with 15 league titles, followed by the Sultanes de Monterrey with 9 titles.

Media presence

The Games of the Mexican Baseball League are mainly transmitted by local TV stations and radio stations, as the nationwide transmission predominantly show football matches. By the year 2008, the U.S. sports channel ESPN shows regularly Games of the LMB.
