Meybod (Persian میبد ) is a desert city in the province of Yazd in Iran.

History

The origin of the city dates back to the pre-Islamic period. Among the Muzaffariden Meybod was the capital and is home to one of the oldest surviving castles in the country from the Sassanian period, Narin Ghaleh. From the Safavid period Chaparkhaneh and the caravanserai Karvansara -ye Abbasi comes. Many famous poets, sufis, clergymen and politicians come from the city, including the poet Meybodi, author of the Kashf -ol - Asrar and the Grand Ayatollah Haeri. Some of the historical buildings were destroyed under local authorities.
