The MHC Mountfield Martin is a Slovak ice hockey club from Martin, which was founded in 1932 and since 2005 playing in the Slovak Extraliga.

History

By 1993, the club played in the second or third division of Czechoslovakia, but mainly in the second division. Due to the division of Czechoslovakia in 1993 the team was inducted into the Extraliga and could in the first year of participation reach the third rank of the Slovak Championship.

At the end of the 1998/99 season the club got off in the first league, but could already ascend one years later. In the 2003 /04 season, the team from Martin took back only the last rank of the Extraliga and dismounted again. A year later, the MHC Martin but rose again in the Extraliga, and has established itself in subsequent years in the middle of the league.

In January 2009, succeeded in winning the Continental Cup, the greatest success of the club's history. In 2010 the company Mountfield took over the naming rights to the club and also acts as the main sponsor.

Home ground

The MHC Martin plays its home matches at the 4,200 -seat Zimný Štadión Martin. In recent years, the MHC Martin reached an average of about 3,000 spectators at home games.
