Mia Slavenska

Mia Corak Slavenska ( born February 20, 1916 in Brod na Savi, † October 5, 2002 in Los Angeles ) was a famous Croatian-born American prima ballerina.

Biography

By Mia Corak Slavenska exist only a little filming. She began dancing at age four and has been in the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb prima ballerina. After a movie role in the feature film La Mort du Cygne by Jean Benoit -Levy in 1938 she moved to the United States, where she worked as dancers un dance teacher.

She founded the ballets Slavenska variant and later the Theatre ballets. In 1954, she was at the Metropolitan Opera Ballet prima ballerina.

Slavenska studied under Josephine Weiss in Zagreb and had in 1924 in Ballet Licitarsko srce Baranić of her debut. In the 17 years she was a prima ballerina.

In 1946, she married Austrian actor Kurt Neumann. From this marriage of their daughter Maria went out.
