MIAT Mongolian Airlines (Mongolian МИАТ - Монголын Иргэний Агаарын Тээвэр, MIAT - Mongolyn Irgenii Agaaryn Teewer, literally Mongolian Civil Aviation ) is the national airline of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar and hub on the local Chinggis Khaan International Airport.

History

The company, founded in 1956 was built with Soviet assistance and Aeroflot. On 7 July 1956, the Flying operations began. An Antonov An-24 operated the flight Ulan Bator - Irkutsk. A connection to Beijing was soon discontinued, there was a lack of demand. Originally the company was closely connected with the Mongolian military, just since 12 August 1993, the civil business is conducted by a separate public company.

The airline was known until the mid- 2000s only by the acronym MIAT. Due to the improved marketability of the outer appearance in the present name MIAT Mongolian Airlines has changed.

In May 2011, MIAT Mongolian Airlines took the first of two leased Boeing 767 -300ER, can be performed as direct flights to the unserved routes with stops since then. Simultaneously, a new corporate design was introduced with the machine. In return, the two Airbus A310 should leave the fleet. In November 2011, the second Boeing 767 -300ER integrated into the fleet, which replaced the last Airbus A310 -300 of the Company.

Destinations

MIAT Mongolian Airlines operates on its domestic routes, the objectives Altai, Arvaikheer, Bulgan, Dalandsadgad, Hovd and Moron. International connections are available to Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong and Moscow. With two daily flights to Seoul is the most frequently served goal of MIAT Mongolian Airlines.

The only German -language destination is currently Berlin -Tegel, which is operated four times a week from Ulaanbaatar via Moscow. These flights will be replaced by a direct connection from Ulaanbaatar from March 2014 to Frankfurt am Main.

As of July 2013, the fleet of MIAT Mongolian Airlines aircraft consists of five with an average age of 14.3 years:
