Micco is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Brevard County in the U.S. state of Florida with 9,052 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Micco is located on the east coast of Florida on the Indian River, which forms part of the Intracoastal Waterway. Micco is located about 100 km south of Titusville and about 130 km southeast of Orlando. The CDP is crossed by U.S. Highway 1 (SR 5).

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 9,052 inhabitants distributed to 6,562 households. The population density was 371 inh. / Km ². 97.5 % of the population were white, 0.4% African American, 0.3% Native American and 0.3 % Asian Americans. 0.4 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.0% of different ethnicities. 1.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 69.5 % of all households lived in 6.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years. 54.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.79 persons and the average family size is 2.26 people.

6.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 7.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 20.5% were 40-59 years old and 66.2 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 67 years. 46.9 % of the population were male and 53.1 % female.

The average annual income was $ 32,380, while 9.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 96.25 % of the population and 3.75 % had a different mother tongue.
