Michael Benton

Michael James " Mike" Benton ( born April 8, 1956) is a professor of vertebrate paleontology at the " Department of Earth Sciences" of the University of Bristol. Since 2001 he is "Head of Department". Benton is the author of numerous non-fiction books; many of them have also been published in German.

Life and work

Michael Benton since the late 1970s has published numerous scientific papers, which are in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, published. In addition, he also appears as the author of several textbooks of Paleontology in appearance, as well as numerous popular science fiction books, especially for children, in which dinosaurs are the main focus. Benton was a scientific consultant for many television documentaries, as well as in the BBC series " Dinosaurs - In the Realm of the Giants " ( Original: "Walking with Dinosaurs "). In 2008 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

In 2005 he received the Lyell Medal.
