Michael Cashman

Michael Cashman, CBE ( born December 17, 1950 in London ) is a British actor and politician.

Biography

After his education to Cashman decided to become an actor. As an actor he is best known for his role as Colin Russell in the television series EastEnders BBC. In this role, the first time a gay man kissing another man on British television. Furthermore, Cashman played the role of Mike Wallace in the British television program The Sandbaggers. He also appeared as an actor in the Doctor Who story Time - Flight.

Since 1999 he has been Member of Parliament for the Labour Party.

Cashman lives openly gay and lives in a registered partnership with Paul Cottingham. With Cottingham Cashman lives together for over twenty years and the marriage took place on 11 March 2006. Cashman involved in the organizations National Secular Society and The Food Chain, a London club indigenous to support HIV -positive people. Cashman was one of the founders of the British LGBT organization Stonewall (UK).

Cashman is the Chairman of the Conference of Delegation Chairs and the Delegation for relations with South Africa. As a member, he has worked in the Development Committee and the Committee on Petitions. Deputy is Cashman in the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the Delegation to the ACP -EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

In 2007, Cashman for his involvement in human rights issues honorary doctorate from the University of Staffordshire.
