Michael Cramer (politician)

Michael Cramer ( born June 16, 1949 in Gevelsberg, North Rhine -Westphalia ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90/The Greens ).

Life and career

After graduation in 1969 at the Reichenbach High School in Ennepetal Michael Cramer studied the subjects of music, sports and education at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In 1974, he was the first and after the clerkship at the Ernst- Abbe -OG in Berlin- Neukölln and the second state examination for secondary school teaching. From 1977 to 1995 he worked as a teacher at the Albrecht-Dürer- Gymnasium in Berlin- Neukölln.

Party

In 1986, Michael Cramer, Member of the Alternative List for democracy and environmental protection ( AL) in Berlin, the predecessor of the party Alliance 90/The Greens Berlin.

Member of Parliament

From 1989 to 2004 Michael Cramer was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives. Here he was transport policy spokesman for the Green Party and from 1989 to 1990 Chairman of the Committee on Transport and businesses. In addition to other committees, he was also a member of the European Union Affairs Committee. During his time as an MP Cramer took several teaching positions at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin. There, he taught in the Department of Political Science on the topics of transport and urban policy.

Since 2004, Michael Cramer is a member of the European Parliament. He is a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism, the coordinator for the Group of the Greens / European Free Alliance. He is also a member of the delegation for relations with Australia and New Zealand and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Cramer is also representative of the Delegation for relations with South Africa.

He is also a more participatory fledged member of the Committee on EU affairs in the German Bundestag.

As a member of the European Parliament, he has worked in recent years that the 160- km-long Berlin Wall Cycle Route to Europe was transferred. The 9000 km long Europe the Iron Curtain Trail (Iron Curtain Trail ), which was decided in 2005 by a large majority by the European Parliament, through 20 countries, 14 of which are Member States of the European Union.
