Michael Franck

Michael Franck ( born March 16, 1609 Schleusingen, † September 24, 1667 in Coburg ) was a German Protestant hymn writer. He first learned the baker's trade, but soon found great interest in music. During the Thirty Years' War, he left the county of Henneberg and settled as a teacher in Coburg. Here he was crowned by Johann Rist a poet.

He wrote, inter alia, Be true to God, stop his covenant ( Protestant hymnal Baden- Alsace- Palatinate 587 ) and Ah how fleeting, ah, how void of human life is! ( Lutheran Hymnal 528 and praise of God 657 ).
