Michael Holthaus

Michael Holthaus ( born July 13, 1950 in Wuppertal ) is a German swimmer.

Holthaus coached at his home clubs Wasserfreunde Wuppertal, Essen 06 and Blue-White Bochum. During his time at Blue-White Bochum under coach Gerhard Hetz he won the bronze medal in the 400 - m -layer swimming at the Summer Olympic Games in Mexico in 1968. He also participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. World and European record, numerous German championships and German records are among his successes.

After the end of his career as a competitive swimmer, he worked as a sports teacher at the Gymnasium at the east ring in Bochum. These activities, he was forced to retire due to illness. He is an avid golfer today; and lives with his wife and three children in Bochum.
