Michael Joseph Owens

Michael Joseph Owens (born 1 January 1859 in Mason County, West Virginia, † December 27, 1923 ) was an American inventor.

Owens was the son of a miner. From the age of 10, he worked as a glassmaker 's assistant in Wheeling. Worldwide attention was attracted his invention of the automatic glass blowing machine, which he presented in 1903. Owens machine changed in the years following the appearance of the entire hollow glass industry. The U.S. American glass manufacturer Owens- Illinois is named for him.
