Michael Posner (economist)

Michael Vivian Posner ( born August 25, 1931 in London, † 14 February 2006) was a British economist.

Life

His parents Jack and Lena Posner emigrated from Russia to escape the pogroms there. Michael Posner himself grew up in Ilford. After the Second World War he moved with his family to Croydon.

Work

Michael Posner erlangete in economics great fame through his published 1961 article in which he developed his theory of the technological gap. This theory has been widely received and is still fundamental theory to explain international trade activity.
