Michael Radford
Michael Radford ( born February 24, 1946 in New Delhi, India) is a British screenwriter and film director.
Career
Michael Radford made famous by the film Il Postino from 1994, for which he was nominated in the categories " Best Director " and " Best Screenplay " at the Academy Awards. Radford spent his youth in India. As a young man he came to England to study at Oxford philosophy, politics and economics. After graduation, he worked for a time as a teacher and actor. In 1971 he formed part of the cohort of the newly created National Film and Television School, where he trained to become a documentary filmmaker. Among his most famous early documentaries include The Madonna and the Volcano (1979) and Van Morrison in Ireland ( 1981). By 1983, he turned exclusively documentaries before he wrote the screenplay for the World War Romance Another Time, Another Place, in which he also directed. This was followed by the most well- known film adaptation of George Orwell's 1984 with Richard Burton in his last role. 1987 turned Radford White Mischief, but it would be another seven years before he made his final breakthrough with Il Postino. The film was nominated 22 years ago as the first foreign production since Ingmar Bergman's Cries and Wispers in the category " Best Picture " Oscar. Following this success, Radford indulged a break and returned in 1998 with B. Monkey in the cinemas back. His last completed work so far is Flawless ( Flawless ) from 2007 with Michael Caine and Demi Moore.
