Michael Thwaite

Michael Errol Thwaite ( born 2 May 1983 in Cairns ) is an Australian football player who is currently under contract with Perth Glory.

Career

Association

He began his career in 2002 at the amateur club of the University of Sydney in New South Wales Winter Super League and joined a short time later to the Marconi Stallions in the National Soccer League.

He then played two seasons for the Romanian first division side FC Progresul Bucharest and the Polish first division club Wisła Kraków, where he each the final of the national cup competition reached, but did not win. On 28 January 2008 he signed a contract with the Norwegian first division side SK Brann. There, however, he came only two appearances before he was loaned on 19 June 2008 at Melbourne Victory.

For the season 2009/10 he moved to Gold Coast United, where on February 1, 2011, he scored the first goal of his professional career against his former club Melbourne Victory. As Gold Coast United permit withdrawn at the end of the 2011/12 season, moved Thwaite mid-2012 to Perth Glory.

National

From 2002 to 2004 Thwaite was part of the Australian U-20 national team and took with her at the Junior World Championship 2003 in the United Arab Emirates, where she reached the quarter- finals. His debut for the Australian national football team he was on 9 October 2005, in the 5-0 win in a friendly against Jamaica.
