Michael Wearing

Michael Wearing ( born 1939 ) is a British television producer.

Life

Wearing studied anthropology at Newcastle University, where he also belonged to a theater group. In Bromley, he was then working as an assistant theater manager, before transferring to the Royal Court Theatre, where he also tried his hand as a director. As Wearing went as a director of a stage version of Gogol's records of a maniac on tour, he met David Rose know. Rose, who led the regional BBC department in Birmingham, Wearing undertook in 1976 as a television script editor. From 1980 Wearing acted at the BBC as a producer, as he You could consolidate his position in 1981 with the television miniseries The History. After disputes with the BBC management in 1998 he gave up his post at the BBC. From 1999 he was also responsible for film productions, such as for the Drama Alone against the crime ( When the Sky Falls, 2000) with Joan Allen and Patrick Bergin or for the thriller Edge of Darkness (Edge of Darkness, 2010), a feature film version of the plutonium affair with Mel Gibson in the lead role.

Michael Wearing was nominated in the course of his career for the Emmy, among other things, Pride and Prejudice, and five times for the BAFTA TV Award, which he won for Boys from the Black Stuff ( 1982) and The plutonium Affair (1985). In 1997 he also received the BAFTA prize, the Alan Clarke Award, for his outstanding achievements for television.

From marriage to the sculptor and photographer Jean Ramsey emerged daughter Catherine Sophia Wearing (1966-2007), the TV producer was also, and daughter Sadie. Wearing has two other children, Ella and Benjamin Michael Wearing (* 1989).
