Michael Stone Monastery is a former Cistercian monastery near the town of Blankenburg in the Harz in Saxony- Anhalt. Today the plant is a station on the Romantic Road. The former monastery is currently the seat of the Stiftung Kloster Michael Stone - Music Academy Saxony -Anhalt for education and performance practice

History

956 a hermitage of the deceased Liutbirg was mentioned. It is a sacred cave the Holy St. Michael Church, today Volkmarskeller near the Eggeröder fountain. 1139 led the abbess of Quedlinburg Beatrix II a the establishment of a monastery, which was only installed a few years later by Michael Stein at its present location.
