Michel Butor

Michel Marie François Butor (born 14 September 1926 in Mons -en- Barœul in Lille ) is a French writer.

Life

Michel Butor is considered an important representative of the Nouveau Roman, which he has, however, adopted by its own account in 1960. Be counted among others Claude Simon, Robert Pinget, Alain Robbe- Grillet, Maurice Blanchot and Marguerite Duras to this narrative. After the departure from the Nouveau Roman, he has written several hundred books with experimental texts partly together with painters and graphic artists who have appeared in part only in the smallest Lovers Out gifts.

Butor studied philosophy and philology at the Sorbonne in Paris and then worked as a French teacher in Egypt, Manchester, Salonika and Geneva. Later Butor was an editor at the publishing house Gallimard in Paris. From 1975 to 1991 he taught French literature at the University of Geneva.
