Michel Colombier

Michel Colombier (* May 23, 1939 in Lyon, France, † 14 November 2004 in Los Angeles ) was a French film composer.

Colombier wrote the music for more than one hundred films. He gained worldwide fame through the film music for Purple Rain ( 1984) by Albert Magnoli, Against All Odds (1984 ) by Taylor Hackford and White Nights - The Night (1985 ) also by Taylor Hackford. He has worked with many well-known French and American artists, among others, Charles Aznavour and Prince. For his works Colombier twice received the French César film award.

In addition, are to be found in his compositions in addition to film and television music and classical works. He has written music for the Kronos Quartet, the jazz musicians Branford Marsalis and various ballets.

Colombier was married twice and had three children from each marriage. He succumbed to cancer.
