Michel Tornéus

Michel Safe Komesha Tornéus ( born May 26, 1986 in Botkyrka ) is a Swedish long jumper.

Sports career

Tornéus, a Swedish mother and a Congolese began at the age of six years with the Athletics. He was first in 2005 Swedish Champion in the long jump. By 2013, he won a total of twelve national titles in the long jump, five of them in the hall, and a triple jump. He also holds the national records in the long jump outdoors ( 8.22 m) and in the hall ( 8.29 m).

To Tornéus ' most important international successes include winning the bronze medal at the European Championships 2012 in Helsinki and fourth place at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. At the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in 2013, he secured a new national record of 8.29 meters silver medal behind the Russians Alexander Menkow. However, he already retired from the world championships in Moscow in the same year after qualification.

At the World Indoor Championships in 2014 in the Polish Sopot Tornéus was 8.21 m third behind defending champion Mauro Vinicius da Silva of Brazil and the Chinese Li Jinzhe.
