Michela Vittoria Brambilla
Michela Vittoria Brambilla ( born October 26, 1967 in Calolziocorte, Province of Lecco ) is an Italian entrepreneur and politician of Forza Italia (since 2008 Popolo della Libertà ). In Silvio Berlusconi's fourth cabinet in May 2008 she was Secretary of State to the Prime Minister with responsibility for tourism and from June 2009 to November 2011 Minister of Tourism.
Political career
Michela Brambilla comes from a business family that has been active for four generations in the steel industry. After her degree in literature and philosophy at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan in 1991, she worked first as a television journalist for the Fininvest (now Mediaset ). They then participated in as managing director at the family Trafilerie Brambilla Spa and founded with her father Vittorio Brambilla a company for the production of animal food (Sal Spa), whose chairman is.
From November 2003 to March 2008 she was also chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Association in the trade business organization Confcommercio. In April 2006 she was a candidate in the electoral district of Veneto 1 for the first time in elections to the Italian Chamber of Deputies for Forza Italia, but without success. On November 20 2006 she founded the Circoli della Libertà (German: Circles of Freedom) as cultural and media -based organization of Forza Italia and was elected its chairman. Responsible she was in this context at the start of the party-affiliated satellite TV station della Libertà ( Freedom of television ) in June 2007.
In the early elections in April 2008, she was elected in the district of Emilia-Romagna in the Chamber of Deputies. In May, she called Silvio Berlusconi as responsible for tourism, Secretary of State to come to his premiership.
Criticism
Brambilla 2009 came in for criticism, as it highly drawn with right arm on a police party in Lecco - the Mussolini Greeting - saluted. Brambilla explained that she had merely lifted his hand and does not intend to run the fascist salute.
