Michelada

As a Michelada is called a product from Mexico mixed drink.

Preparation

The Michelada is a mixture that consists of a half of a bright or dark beer, and the other half a mix of salt, lime juice, Tabasco or other chili sauce, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce or Maggi.

In Mexico, even the simpler version is preferred as Chelada frequently: In a pre-cooled, straight, tall glass with a strong salt edge two fingers of pure, fresh squeezed lime juice are added and then filled with ice-cold ( light ) beer.

Origin

The word origin is unclear. Probably the word Michelada comes from Spanish "mi chela helada " ( = my cold beer). There are circulating rumors about a Mexican General Augusto Michel from San Luis Potosí to the time of the Mexican Revolution, the mixed indigenous spices of Mexico with beer and to have given the drink as his name. In Mexico, the Michelada was popular in the 1940s.
