Michele Giambono

Michele Giambono ( born: Michele Giovanni Boni, also called Michele di Taddeo Bono * about 1400 in Venice, † 1462 ) was a Venetian painter of the early Renaissance and Mosaizist.

Even in the ancestors Giambonos artists can be found, such as his grandfather Giam Bono, who was a painter from Treviso. From about 1420 Giambono began to be active as an artist. The Art Giambonos characterized above all by its Gothic coloring, he is considered one of the last representatives of this art movement. Relationship shows his art, which was traversed by the influences of the Renaissance, with the works of artists such as Jacobello del Fiore. His works have been particularly influenced by Gentile da Fabriano, who until 1414 worked from about 1409 in Venice.

At one of his most important mosaics of the Virgin Birth is one in St Mark's Basilica.
