Michio Hikitsuchi

Michio Hikitsuchi (Japanese引 土 道 雄, * 1923 in Wakayama Prefecture, † February 2nd 2004 in Shingu ) was an aikido instructor in the 20th century.

He worked since the age of nine with the martial arts. At 14, he first met Morihei Ueshiba, founder of aikido, whose pupil he was 40 years.

Hikitsuchi was awarded in 1969 a few months before Ueshiba's death from his teacher personally, the 10th Dan. At the same time he received the written permission of dealing with the long stick ( Bo) in Aikido ( Masakatsu Bojutsu ) and the sword ( Sho Chiku Bai No Ken ) or bokken to teach.

Hikitsuchi lived in Shingu, a small town in the Japanese prefecture of Wakayama. He died on 2 February 2004.

His teachings are passed in Europe, among others, by his longtime student Gerard Blaize. The learned of Hikitsuchi style is named after its located in the Kumano mountains in Japan also Kumano Juku Dojo - Aikido.
