Mickaël Tavares ( born October 25, 1982 in Villeneuve -Saint -Georges ) is a French football player, Senegal and Cape Verdean nationality. He is the son of former Senegalese international's Tony Tavares, who is of Cape Verdean descent.

Club career

Tavares began his career with U.S. Créteil. In 2000 he moved to Portuguese club FC Alverca. After two years he returned to France and was committed by the SC Abbeville. He stayed there for a season and spent the next two years at FC Nantes, where he was but used only in the B team. 2005, the midfielder went to FC Tours and went with this one year later in the Ligue 2.

In July 2007, he was first tested by Slavia Prague and signed after a week in the Czech capital a two-year contract with an option for another year.

In January 2009, Tavares moved to Hamburger SV.
