Microryzomys

The small Treis rats ( Microryzomys ) are a living in South America rodent genus of the group of the New world. They consist of two types.

Small Treis rats are very small representatives of the New world. They reach a body length 6-10 inches, which must be added a 9 to 13 centimeters long tail comes. Their soft fur is brownish in color, the underside is lighter, with mostly grayish.

These animals live in the Andes from Colombia to Bolivia and Peru. They live in moist forests and grasslands in 2000 to 4000 meters above sea level. They are primarily bottom dwellers and place on trails in the grass or moss.

There are two types:

  • Microryzomys altissimus is based in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It comes down to 4000 meters above sea level and is characterized by a shorter tail.
  • Microryzomys minutus is distributed from Venezuela to Bolivia. She has a longer tail and is expected to occur in greater extent in forests and live in trees.
