Microsoft Identity Integration Server

Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS ) is an Metaverzeichnisdienst software from Microsoft.

MIIS is a central service that brings together identity information, saves and synchronizes from multiple data sources. Goal of MIIS is to manage identity information and to keep consistent.

Example: A change in a company's HR system draws thus automatically a change in the internal telephone directory and in the e-mail system by itself.

Scope

Synchronization of identity information

MIIS Identity information about various directory services and other data storage can be synchronized away. Result, the process of updating information is automated and the data [ consistency ] ensured.

Creating and deleting / disabling user accounts

MIIS automates user accounts, mailboxes, security groups, etc. can be created or deleted.

Password synchronization and password management

MIIS enables password synchronization and password management across different platforms. Through a web interface passwords can be easily changed or reset at the same time in many systems.

Connectors

The following directories and data sources can be read and synchronize MIIS 2003 Enterprise Edition:

Identity Integration Feature Pack (1a ) for Windows Server Active Directory can only data between Active Directory and Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM ) and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, and synchronize Exchange Server 2003 implementations, but this version is free but is available from Microsoft.

Construction / terms

  • The Metaverse is the database of the actual Metaverzeichnisdienstes, here all are united identity information.
  • An External Data Source is a device connected to MIIS directory or other data source.
  • A Management Agent ( MA) is the link between the external data source and MIIS. In MA defines which fields are read and is defined as the flow of data between MIIS and the external data source.
  • The connector space (CS ) is an intermediate storage ( staging area ), are stored in the data from the external data source before they are projected into the metaverse.
  • Import: Get the data from the external data source to the connector space.
  • Synchronization: Unify the data from the connector spaces in the Metaverse.
  • Export: Write the data from the connector space to the external data sources.
  • About Rules MIIS Extensions can be adapted to the respective conditions. The programming of these extensions in the form of DLLs via Visual Studio. NET
