Mittuniversitetet ( to German as " middle - University ", official English name Mid Sweden University ) is a Swedish university with three locations in the northern Swedish city Sundsvall, Östersund and Härnösand.

The University started its operations on 1 July 1993 as a university under the name Mitthögskolan on after they had emerged from the merged universities in Sundsvall / Härnösand and Östersund, whose history dates back to the early 1970s.
