Midtfyns Festival

The Midtfyns Festival was a music festival in rings on the Danish island of Funen. The festival took place from 1976 to 2003 and has long been the second largest festival in Denmark after the Roskilde Festival and one of the largest in Northern Europe. Compared to the Roskilde Festival a more traditional repertoire was presented with proven name.

History

Festival founder was the Danish restaurateur Peter Færgemann (1947-1991), the first still in his restaurant Ryslinge Kro in place Ryslinge was held the Festival ( in Faaborg - Midtfyn municipality today ), occurred in the bands and musicians from the Funen folk scene. The event gained inlet and experienced in the 1980s, their heyday in which it covered partially over five days and more than a hundred bands occurred. After Færgeman died two days after the 16th edition in 1991, his widow Nina Færgemann took over the business. Since the bankruptcy of local forces tried the festival scene in 2006, the rings and vault organized rings Festival. With a mix of familiar names and amateur bands as well as visitors in 1500 but it failed to match the success of the old Midtfyns festivals.
