Mieczysław Mokrzycki

Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki (pronounced Mokschizki ) ( born March 29, 1961 in Maidan Łukawiecki, powiat Lubaczowski, Poland) is Archbishop of Lviv.

Life

After high school studied Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki Catholic theology and philosophy at the Catholic University of Lublin. On September 17, 1987, he received by Marian Jaworski the sacrament of Holy Orders. He received his doctorate at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome for the Doctor of Theology in 1996.

From 1996 to 2005 he was secretary of Pope John Paul II. Pope Benedict XVI. took him to his appointment as second secretary next Georg Gänswein.

On 16 July 2007 he was appointed Koadjutorerzbischof of the Archdiocese of Lviv. He received his episcopal consecration Benedict XVI. on 29 September of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica. Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone SDB were co-consecrators and Marian Cardinal Jaworski. His successor as private secretary of the Pope was Alfred Xuereb.

On 21 October 2008, he resigned after the resignation of Cardinal Jaworski age-related its successor as Archbishop of Lviv on. The inauguration took place on 21 November 2008.
