Mieming

Mieming is a municipality with 3477 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Imst ( district court Silz ) of the federal state of Tyrol in Austria.

Geography

Mieming is in the middle of the Mieminger plateau above the Upper Inn Valley at the foot of Mieminger Mountains. The municipality also includes a small portion of the branching of Leutasch Gaistals that is already behind the Mieminger chain. The southern boundaries running through the middle of the Inn.

Due to the favorable climate, very sunny in winter position, the comparatively low Föhneinfluss, proximity to the market town of Telfs and good access to the motorway A12 Mieming experiencing a significant growth of settlements; the districts Barwies and Obermieming are practically grown together, and the settlements in Weidach and Untermieming developing dynamically. History

The beginning of the colonization of the region in which Mieming is today, goes back to the year 15 BC, when the Romans conquered the Inn Valley and its province Raetia zuteilten. But traces of this settlement are still missing, even if it is assumed that some people settled here. It is also to suggest that between the Via Claudia Augusta, a path over the Fern Pass to Augsburg and the Strait of Veldidena about Scharnitz to Augsburg was a connection that led about today Mieming.

After the end of the Roman Empire in 476 AD Tyrol was part of the Visigoth kingdom and the Bavaria lived peacefully in the settlement area. Although the exact date of settlement is not fixed by the Bavarians, remains certain that Mieming one definitely to the Old Bavarian texts settlement areas.
