Mieses Opening

The Lousy - opening is an opening of the chess game.

The basic position of the Lousy opening is created after the train:

This first train of White is very rarely played, so this opening is classified in the ECO codes as " Irregular opening " to A00.

History

The namesake of this construction is the German -British chess master Jacques Lousy (1865-1954), who with "his train " opened in a match against Richard Teichmann, 1910 in Berlin, two games. But Lousy thus achieved only with difficulty a draw in the fourth game of match, in the second he clearly lost.

In tournament chess in the late 19th and early 20th century Lousy has the train 1 d2 -d3 not played or even " invented " for the first time. Already in 1856, the British chess champion Samuel Standidge soil ( 1826-1882 ) has opened in London against strong amateur John Owen ( 1827-1901 ) with the Lousy - train, Black won by changeable course in 38 trains. The latter succeeded 18 years later in a race against Amos Burn of first recorded in databases victory with white.

Until the mid- 20th century, Lousy - opening disappeared from the tournament practice world-class. In the 1960s, then opened the Russian grandmaster Alexander Kotov three matches with the corresponding train, among other things, in Stockholm in 1961 against the German grandmaster Wolfgang Unzicker ( draw after 51 moves).

Current importance

In 1997, the Lousy opening came again into the consciousness of the chess public, as Garry Kasparov played in his match against the chess program Deep Blue in the third match game. It was the intention of Kasparov, to bring the machine out of its opening book and programmed to play slowly in a rather quiet, positional position. However, the game was over by diverter in the English opening and ended after 48 moves in a draw.

In today's tournament scene Lousy - opening plays on grandmaster level not matter, as a result of the ever- border, computer-aided development of opening theory, the suit advantage of the White plays a major role. In professional chess the black player has the task to compensate for the disadvantage suit during the opening phase or early middlegame. The Lousy opening prepares no particular problems. At amateur level, this statement is only partly true, the surprise effect or leaving theoretical paths to well-prepared enemy here should compensate for the disadvantages of the more passive Lousy train.

Opening ideas

The train 1 d2 -d3 leaves the Black freely choose his first train and the further development of his characters. Not infrequently, the game goes into known openings or position pictures. The natural responses are 1 ... d7 -d5 or 1 ... e7 - e5. In both cases, the white with the Fianchetto the Kingdom rotor ( g2 - g3 and Lf1 - g2) can pass into King's Indian plains (see also: King 's Indian Attack ). In the last case, white reconciled with 2 c2 - c4 in English structures or seek similar position with more pace with 2 e2 -e4 and optionally Nb1 -d2 one of the Philidor Defence.
