Miguel Enríquez (politician)

Miguel Humberto Enríquez Espinosa ( born March 27, 1944 in Talcahuano, † October 5, 1974 in Santiago de Chile) was a Chilean physician and politician. He was from 1967 until his death General of the Movimiento de Izquierda Marxist- Leninist Revolucionaria MIR (Movement of the Revolutionary Left ).

Life

Enríquez was the son of Edgardo Enríquez Frödden, education minister under Salvador Allende and Exrektor the Universidad de Concepción was. Enríquez studied medicine and became a neurologist. He was regarded as Marxists and Leninists trailer significant, including Lenin and Rosa Luxembourg. Enriquez was also a staunch supporter of atheism. With the assumption of power by Augusto Pinochet (1973 ) Enríquez became a leader of the resistance. As a result, he was soon killed in a firefight.

His son Marco Enríquez - Ominami is a member of the socialist party Partido Socialista de Chile and in 2009 ran unsuccessfully for the presidency in Chile.
