Miguel Sousa Tavares

Andresen Miguel de Sousa Tavares ( born June 25, 1952 in Porto ) is a Portuguese writer and journalist.

Career

Miguel Sousa Tavares is the son of the poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen and the lawyer and politician Francisco Sousa Tavares. He himself studied law and then pursued a career as a journalist and essayist. In 2003 he made ​​his debut with " At the equator, " as a novelist. The book, which focuses on the Portuguese governor of São Tomé and Príncipe is, was a bestseller and sold over 220,000 times.

In Público Sousa Tavares had a weekly column with a political comment, which he continues now for the weekly newspaper Expresso. He also written articles for the sports newspaper A Bola. He is known for his passion for football and his support of the club FC Porto.
