Mihai Chițac

Mihai Chiţac (born 4 November 1928 Suharău, county Botosani, † November 1, 2010 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian military and politicians.

Chiţac 1989 was acted on behalf of Nicolae Ceauşescu against the anti-Communist demonstrators in Timisoara, western Romania. In the government of President Ion Iliescu, he was Minister of the Interior and is responsible for the brutal crackdown on a civic demonstration on University Square in Bucharest in 1990. 2008 he was appointed by the Supreme Court of Romania sentenced to 15 years in prison.
