Mihail Kogălniceanu

Mihail Kogălniceanu (born 6 Septemberjul / September 18 1817greg in Iasi, .. † July 1, 1891 in Paris, France) was a Romanian politician, historian and publicist.

He was named after the unification of the two principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia, on October 11, 1863 Prime Minister of Romania. He successfully introduced a law to the secularization of monastery estates, which was also adopted on 25 December 1863 and entered into force. However, his proposals failed to agrarian reform was vetoed by Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, so that he was forced to resign in 1865.
