Mike Nelson (artist)

Michael " Mike" Nelson ( born August 20, 1967) is a British installation artist. He represented Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2011, Nelson was nominated twice for the Turner Prize. 2001 ( it finally won Martin Creed ) and 2007 ( winner was Mark Wallinger ).

Nelson's installations typically exist only for the period of the exhibition, for which they were created. Often there are extensive labyrinths, in which the viewer himself is said to find its way. His work for the Biennale 2001, "The Deliverance and the Patience " (English Salvation and patience ) was located in a former brewery on the Giudecca. In September 2007 he showed A Psychic Vacuum at the Essex Street Market, New York. Other projects included 24A Orwell Street Kings Cross Sydney and The Coral Reef at Tate Britain ( 2000-2011 ).
