Mike Posma

Mike Posma ( born December 16, 1967 in Medford, New Jersey ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player and coach. He was active for the Adler Mannheim in the DEL, among others. Most recently, he coached the SHC Fassa in the Italian Serie A1.

Playing career

Mike Posma was committed by the St. Louis Blues at position 31 in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1986. Although a commitment in the second round of the draft almost always draws a NHL career after themselves, Posma never played in this league. Instead, he ran four years for the University team of Western Michigan University in the NCAA. In 240 games he scored it 174 points scorer. For a defender, this was an outstanding value in a university team. In 1987 he took part in the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship in Czechoslovakia with Team USA. He scored two goals in seven games.
