Career

Mike Rogers played during his junior time at the Calgary Centennials in the WCHL. At his side played mostly Danny Gare, with whom he formed together one of the strongest duos in the league. In the NHL Amateur Draft 1974, he had to wait because of his small stature to the fifth round before him chose the Vancouver Canucks 77th. At this time particularly robust players were asked the teams.

In the World Hockey Association rather the opportunity arose for him, however, to enforce at first, so he pulled an offer from the Edmonton Oilers before, who had secured the rights to him in the WHA Amateur Draft. Here he played in the season 1974/75 a strong rookie season and brought it to 83 points scorer. During the following season he moved to the WHA to the New England Whalers and found a new home. In line with Gordie and Mark Howe he counted here with service providers.

With resolution of the WHA is expected that the Vancouver Canucks would now claim its rights on Rogers contends, but was abandoned. The former general manager of the Canucks, Harry Neale, has called it one of his biggest mistakes. So Rogers remained for 1979/80 season with his team, the Hartford Whalers now called. But here he was offered to his surprise, only one contract at, which also provided the opportunity to let him play in the farm team. Again he sat by and formed with Blaine Stoughton and Pat Boutette the Stash Bash Dash - Line. With 105 points, he was after Wayne Gretzky the best coming from the WHA scorer in the NHL. In the next season he managed 105 points, a value that no other player in the jersey of the Whalers reached ever again.

For the 1981/82 season the Whalers wanted to strengthen their defense and provided this Rogers to the New York Rangers from. Again, he came in his first year again to more than 100 points scorer. After four full years in New York, he was not as popular with the Rangers. He has now been deported to the American Hockey League farm team of the New Haven Nighthawks. Soon, he transferred to the Edmonton Oilers, in which he had at that time started his pro career in the WHA. Again he came only a few uses and found himself in the AHL with the Nova Scotia Oilers again.

In 1986 he moved for another year in Switzerland and played for HC Ambri -Piotta.
