Mike Stamm

Michael Eugene " Mike" strain ( born August 6, 1952 in San Pedro, California ) is a retired American swimmer.

The backstroke swimmer Mike tribe won two silver medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke and gold with the U.S. 4 × 100 m medley relay at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. With the World Swimming Championships in 1973 in Belgrade, he took over 100 m backstroke also the second place and won gold with the medley relay.

Tribe was at that time the world's second best backstroke swimmer behind the East German swimmer Roland Matthes. Only once, in 1970, succeeded master the world record of Matthes to break the 200 m backstroke. However, Matthes won the world record three weeks later back again.

Michael Stamm then coached at Indiana University under coach James Counsilman.
