Mikko Rimminen

Mikko Rimminen ( born May 8, 1975 in Helsinki) is a Finnish poet and writer.

Life

Mikko Rimminen is the son of Finnish documentary filmmaker Sakari Rimminen. He spent four years studying Creative Writing at the private university Kriittinen korkeakoulu in Helsinki. With the volume of poetry Jännittävää Olisi nähdä Pihalla lintuja he debuted in 2000 as a poet.

With Pussikaljaromaani he made his debut in 2004 as a writer. The novel was Dutch, Latvian, Russian, and under the title bag beer novel translated into Swedish into German. In addition to critical acclaim, he was awarded and nominated, including for the prestigious Finlandia Prize for several literary awards. A theatrical adaptation in 2006, followed in 2011 by a staged Ville Jankeri and occupied with Jussi Nikkilä, Ylermi Rajamaa and Eero Milonoff in the lead roles film.

With his third novel Nenäpäivä he was finally awarded in 2010 with the Finlandia Prize. The story about the loneliness of a middle-aged woman and her attempt to catch up with the company, was in 2013 under the title The Day of the Red-Nosed Reindeer in German language at the Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag.
